What you are actually buying

Construction
Full-coverage embroidery on a heat-sealed twill base, with a merrowed overlock border wrapping the edge.
Backing
Hook-and-loop as standard and included in the price, which is what a loop panel on a uniform or a plate carrier expects. Sew-on and iron-on are available at the same price.
Sizes
2in to 5in on the longest edge. Shoulder and chest tabs, name tapes and unit crests all sit inside that range.
Colour matching
Matched to a real thread range rather than to screen colour. Subdued and low-contrast palettes are matched the same way as any other — tell us the intent and we will work to it on the proof.
Artwork
PNG, JPG, SVG, AI, EPS or PDF. Unit crests and heraldry usually arrive as a scan of something older, which is fine — that is what the digitising step is for.
Minimum
25 pieces per design, which is deliberately low enough to cover a section rather than a battalion.
Lead time
2 to 3 weeks in production from proof approval, plus 3 to 5 days in transit. The clock starts when you approve, not when you order.
Reorders
Your digitised file is kept on record, so a replacement run is placed from your order ID without redoing artwork or paying again to set it up.

From crest to shipped

  1. Send what you have

    A vector file if the unit has one, a scan of the printed crest if it does not, or a photo of the patch currently on someone's sleeve.

  2. We digitise it

    Redrawn as stitch paths and matched to real thread. Heraldic detail usually needs simplifying, and we show you exactly where.

  3. You approve a proof

    Nothing runs and nothing is charged until someone with the authority to say so has signed off on the proof.

  4. It ships free

    USPS tracked to your address, including APO, FPO and DPO, with the tracking number emailed on despatch.

Before you raise the purchase

Do you accept Government Purchase Cards?

Yes. We accept GPCs and can provide the documentation your purchase requires, including our Section 889 certification.

Can you ship to an APO or FPO address?

Yes, at no additional cost. We ship anywhere in the United States including APO, FPO and DPO addresses. We do not currently ship internationally.

What is the minimum order?

25 pieces per design, with no setup fee and no separate digitising charge. A section-sized run is priced from the same table as a squadron-sized one.

Can you reproduce our existing unit patch?

Usually. Send the best artwork you have, or a photo of a physical patch if the source file is long gone, and we will redraw it for thread. The proof is where you confirm we got it right.

How do reorders work when people rotate through?

We keep your digitised design on file against your order ID. A follow-on run is placed from that ID, so the second batch matches the first rather than being redrawn from scratch.

Are you able to quote a larger programme?

Yes. Past 1,000 pieces the price comes down again and is worth quoting properly rather than reading off the table — email sales@squadoutfitters.com or use the contact form.
